Documents Required

At EF Number Plates, we are committed to providing premium-quality number plates that comply fully with DVLA regulations. To ensure your plates are legally manufactured and dispatched, we require specific documentation to verify your identity and registration entitlement.

Don't worry—it’s a quick and simple process, and our team is here to assist you every step of the way.

Why Are These Documents Required?

These document requirements are not just EF Number Plates’ policy—they are set by the DVLA to ensure number plates are issued securely and legally. By providing the necessary documentation, you help us confirm your entitlement and prevent unauthorised plate use.

To confirm your registration entitlement, we must physically validate the original documents, which can either be posted to us or brought in for local collection.

1. Identification Documents

To verify your identity, we require one of the following:

  • Driving Licence (Full or Provisional)
  • Utility Bill, Council Tax, or Rates Bill (dated within the last 6 months)
  • Bank or Building Society Statement (dated within the last 6 months)
  • National Identity Card

2. Registration Entitlement Documents

To confirm your entitlement to the registration, we require one of the following:

  • Vehicle Registration Certificate (V5C or V5CNI)
  • New Keeper Supplement (V5C/2 or V5C/2NI)
  • Certificate of Entitlement (V750 or V750NI)
  • Retention Document (V778 – not applicable in Northern Ireland)
  • Renewal Reminder for Vehicle Tax or SORN (V11 or V11NI)
  • Temporary Registration Certificate (V379 or V379NI)
  • Number Plate Authorisation Certificate (V948 with an official DVLA or DVSA stamp)
  • Electronic Number Plate Authorisation Certificate (eV948)
  • Letter of Authorisation from a Fleet Operator (including lease or hire companies, quoting the document reference number from the registration certificate)

Why Can’t I Email or Upload My Documents?

We understand that in today’s digital world, uploading documents may seem more convenient. However, DVLA regulations require original documents for validation to ensure full legal compliance.

Rest assured, your documents will be securely handled and returned along with your order.

This process is essential to prevent fraud and unauthorised plate use, particularly with the rise of vehicle-related crime in the UK.

How to Submit Your Documents

To comply with DVLA regulations, we require your original documents to be either:

  • Posted to us via recorded delivery
  • Brought in for verification at our local collection point

Send Your Documents To:
